Refrigerator Bins
During and after the rebuilding of the Kitchen Counter, I started to work on other repairs in our kitchen. In this post I describe the repair of our refrigerator bins. See also Kitchen Cabinets, Dishwasher Control Panel, and Storage Under Sinks.
Some years ago I repaired the cracks in our refrigerator bins and the shelves from which they hang using heavy-duty clear tape. The repairs worked fairly well, but given my recent experience with 5-minute epoxy I wanted to do a better job.
In the picture below my pinky and index fingers point to the end of a crack in one of the bins.
In the two pictures below you can see the ends of the crack more clearly.
The other bin had similar cracks on both sides, but not as severe.
Below you can see how the tape repair was failing on both sides of one of the shelves. The other shelf had similar failure.
I used 5-minute epoxy to repair both shelves.
I also used 5-minute epoxy to repair just one of the bins, because the tape repair of the other bin was still sound.
The shelves and bins are now back in use.
I used to think epoxy was too much trouble, but I now know it is an excellent adhesive that is easy to use.
